books full of pictographic symbols

here's a page from Warja Lavater's (also known as Warja Honegger-Lavater) book Pictograms. Warja was a Swiss artist who made accordion books. More sample pages here. An edition of her book is in print. I found out about her at gramatologia.
& here's a page from Xu Bing's Book from the Ground. From an exhibition in Shanghai. It should have been published already, but doesn't appear to be available. The site www.bookfromtheground.com isn't working, however xubing.com is.

a few years ago, I posted about Wilfried Hou Je Bek's translation of parts of The Epic of Gilgamesh into the pictograms taught to Chimpanzees & Bonobos by ape researchers. The link to the complete PDF doesn't work any more, but there's an excerpt in here.
